Babcock Australasia (Babcock) is expanding its operations to include comprehensive military aviation services, in response to the rapidly evolving needs of the Australian and New Zealand defence forces.

The leading prime will leverage decades of global expertise and technological innovation along with its existing defence and civil aviation credentials, to develop and deliver advanced tri-service aviation and aerospace solutions that will enhance operational effectiveness and readiness.

This strategic expansion underscores Babcock’s dedication to meeting the urgent and dynamic demands of national security, ensuring that defence force personnel are equipped with the best possible capabilities to face contemporary challenges.

Babcock has begun pursuing a raft of operational and technical opportunities across fixed-wing, rotary-wing and UAS platforms. Focus areas include:

Operational support to both crewed and uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAV) for a range of missions including Defence Search and Rescue.

Scalable turnkey training solutions including tactical and advanced pilot and air crew training across Australia, New Zealand and Asia Pacific.

In Service Support (ISS) + Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) to enhance asset readiness and reliability.

To support these activities, Babcock is investing in the R&D of cutting-edge aircraft systems, UAV and advanced avionics, and seeking out industry and OEM partners to create solutions that address the specific operational needs of Defence.

Babcock’s existing aviation capabilities in region provide a strong foundation for this expansion, where it continues to make major investments in aircraft, infrastructure, and training. This includes the introduction of multiple new and additional helicopters into its fleet over the past 12 months and plans for a new multi-user hangar on Horn Island in support of current and future Torres Strait contracts.

The company’s significant global experience in military aviation, particularly in France and the UK, will also deliver speed of throughput, with the Australasian business leveraging proven technology, and training and asset management outcomes. These include through-life support of military aircraft, military air base management, and end-to-end pilot training across multiple platforms.
