Melbourne-based secure communications company achieves historical export orders

In 2021 C4i Pty Ltd, a Melbourne-based secure communications system expert, achieved the largest  value of export orders in its history, increasing by over 37 per cent in 2021.

C4i delivers high-tech Secure Communication System technology to prime contractors and international end  user customers including: the US Air Force and Marine Corps, UK Ministry of Defence, Canadian  Department of National Defence, Taiwan Airforce, and the Qatar Ministry of Defense. In the Australian  Defence market the C4i secure Voice Communication System (VCS) is being rolled out in the Air Defence  segment of the Royal Australian Air Force.

“I am very proud that C4i posted the largest order value in the history of the company in 2021,” says Darren  Gardner, Managing Director C4i, “with over AUD$33.6M of export orders. Over the last six years we’ve  achieved an average yearly growth of 31 per cent in export order value, with international customers  accounting for an average of 87 per cent of our total order value”.

C4i offers customers a secure, high-availability communications system that can be expanded from the  smallest single site system to the largest multi-site national system. In addition to providing innovative “any  radio – anywhere” flexibility, Voice Over Internet Protocol Communications Enterprise (VOICE) integrates a  range of disparate systems, including data, telephony, facility control, and recording. Via an intuitive  streamlined interface, C4i systems reduce response times of operators, even in the most demanding of  situations.

C4i is established as the only sovereign Australian Defence SME with secure communication system capability. As part of the Frequentis Group this secures over 120 high-tech engineering jobs within  Australia. C4i fully aligns with the sovereign industry capability priorities associated with Command and  Control (C2), Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) networks.

Currently further hardware and software Intellectual Property is transferred to C4i in Melbourne to further  develop C4i as a global export hub for Air Defence communication technology. This will lead to further job creation in the strategically important Australian Defence segment but also in the supplier network C4i has  built up locally.

“Our processes, facilities and people are embedded in comprehensive compliance and security framework  that allows access to controlled United States technology and to perform critical work for Defence  organisations,” Darren Gardner explains, “This forms the basis for further growing C4i in both the Australian  and the Defence export market.”
