Exail, Solutions from Silicon partner to provide advanced MCM mission management capabilities

10 November 2022

Exail, formerly the ECA Group, has confirmed that the company has signed a memorandum of understanding with Australia’s Solutions from Silicon to enhance mine countermeasure tasks with advanced data management capabilities.

It is expected that the capabilities will enable naval crews to better prepare, conduct and manage the tasks.

As part of the agreement, the teams will integrate Solutions from Silicon’s (SfS) MINTACS with Exail’s MCM solutions.

SfS develops the MINTACS, a mine warfare tactical command software engineered to enhance the Mine Warfare and Clearance Diving Force by increasing the scope of mine warfare intervention and the previous campaign history.

It is hoped that the integration of both software will enable crews to assess different missions to better prepare for future mine countermeasure tasks.

MINTACS is currently in service with navies across Australia, the UK, Sweden, New Zealand and Thailand.

The two companies have a history of collaboration, with Exail integrating MINTACS with their UMISOFT under the mine countermeasures vessel modernisation program for the Latvian Navy.

“We’re very pleased to be collaborating with Exail on the integration of our MINTACS software with their solutions, which will give navies an advanced solution and extended capabilities to manage and conduct their mine countermeasures missions,” Russell Norman, technical director, Solutions from Silicon.

Daniel Scourzic, VP for strategic programs at Exail, explained that the pair will have a long-term relationship.

“Teaming with SfS enables Exail to integrate MINTACS, a worldwide-recognised Mine Warfare Data Centre (MWDC), into Exail’s UMISTM (Unmanned MCM Integrated Solution),” he explained.

“In addition to MINTACS, Exail will also integrate SfS-developed modules into UMISOFTTM MMS, increasing its interoperability with other MWDC’s and third-party systems by offering military, hydrographic and environmental interfaces. The integration of MINTACS in our solution for the Latvian Navy was a first step towards a long-term collaboration with SfS.”

The companies expect to undertake additional research and development activities in Australia. Exail recently entered into an MoU with Mission Systems and a partnership with UGL.
